The fashion in the 80's was very retro with women wearing shoulder pads, mini skirts, leg warmers, large earrings, Stretch-Stirrup Pants, over sized top, bright colours and big hair.
The ultimate style icons of the 1980s. Acceptable then, acceptable now.
Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson, the King of Pop and probably the biggest superstar to have ever walked the face of planet earth, was a man for whom style was a way of life. So let’s just break it down to our top 5.
1. The sequinned leather glove (just the one mind)
2. White suit and fedora
3. Red leather jacket with epic shoulder pads (circa Thriller) with red trouser combo
4. Embellished military jackets
5. Red college jacket (circa the early days)

Olivia Newton John
Another popular style in the 80's was a short cut blow dried backwards. The fringe is quite full and thick in the front and has been brushed through and blow dried. The back is slightly short and the overall style has a slight wave in it and looks quite natural. Even though the hair style is short it still definitely has body.

Baby is the main character in Dirty Dancing, she is sweet and innocent however her dancing isn't. Baby always ha quite large curly hair and in some scenes the curls look tighter. I think either she of had maybe different sized rollers or even her hair permed and that's why her hair tends to be looser curls at some points. She has a slight side parting and her hair falls down the side of her face not blow dried off her face.
Penny's hair has more of a slight wave to it and has a fringe which is blow dried to give volume. In this photo her hair is half clipped up at the back giving volume at the top and the rest down. In other scenes throughout the movie she has her fringe slightly to the side and all of her hair clipped up all off her face.
Lisa is Baby's sister and they look rather different, Lisa has dark more straight hair and Baby has curly dark blonde hair. In this photo it shows the typical style that Lisa wore. She has a thick full fringe with half her hair tied up with a small quiff at the top to give it volume and back combing at the roots. The overall style of her hair is straight with an uplift at the bottom, her hair might of been washed and the blow dried with a round brush to create volume and a up lift at the bottom.

Wanna get physical? Wanna let Olivia hear your body talk, your body talk? Squeaky clean Sandra Dee from Grease grew up in 1981 and got seriously down and dirty in her video for Physical. Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" video came out in 1981, the same year MTV aired its very first music video, the Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star." It's also the year Newton-John began a 10-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, culminating with Billboard ranking it the top single of 1982.

Madonna
Imagine a world where there was no Madonna. We can’t. It’s too boring. Love or hate her nowadays, back in the 1980s Madonna stood for everything that was cool, exciting and super-mega-hot. The Italian-American singer/dancer introduced the first of many trademark looks in the early 80s and soon we were all sporting lacy fingerless gloves, ¾ length black leggings, rara skirts, eyeliner, beauty spots and statement tee’s.

Diana Spencer
The late princess was probably the most photographed, scrutinized, stalked, judged and hounded woman of the decade, but all that attention didn’t distract her from turning out stunning looks day after day. Her short blonde curls and designer gowns were typical of her style in the 90s, but back in the 80s when she was still a new princess it was her flicked fringe, gentle eye make-up and suits that has us all obsessed.

Kim Wilde
Kim was Britain’s answer to Blondie. Tough gig, but the husky voiced, super sexy lady did us proud and Kids In America/You Keep Me Hanging On were true anthems of the era. A little bit of punk, lots of eyeliner, big hair and penchant for stripy tops.http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/fashion/celebrity-fashion/2013/07/80s-style-icons/viewgallery/1005678
Grace Jones
Originally from Jamaica, Grace Jones moved to New York in the early 60s, took up modelling, then singing and later acting. Aside from her incredible voice and addictive blend of R&B/pop/electronic/disco music, Grace carved out a look for herself that has remained as iconic to this day as it was back in the 80s. Her shaved/angular hair, creative make-up and cloaks, suits, hats and costumes have always felt way ahead of their time.

Hairstyles in the 80's
Hair in the 80's were big and I think in this decade is where they really went for it. The picture on the left is a style from the 80's, you can see the fringe is quite straight and left hanging down however its only a side fringe. The hair at the top tops looks like its gone through some serious blow drying to keep the volume and a lot of product use. The bottom looks like its been back combed and the hair is more a mix of wavy and crimped. She definitely has the height. Another effect at the bottom would be using a hairdryer and a diffuser.
This style definitely looks like its knows what its doing. The top is wavy and the bottom is less wavy, the layers on the top are cut quite short and again a lot of volume at the top but also quite a bit of body at the bottom. At the top rollers would of been used and product. A hairdryer and diffuser could of possibly been used for this style as the bottom is styled more messy. Again she had a straight fringe however this is a full fringe and is cut a lot shorter.
This style looks very natural and the curls have a lot of body and the style is very windswept. This is definitely my favourite hairstyle from the 80's as I love the volume of the curls and how its all being pulled off the face. The whole head looks like its been done with large rollers and then brushed out to give a fluffy effect. The hair is ever so slightly parted to the side and there is no short fringe, the fronts been hairdryer with product to keep the volume and windswept effect in place and the overall style has been sprayed to keep in place.
